Mt 2, 1-12 Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of King Herod the Great. Now, behold, magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the king of the Jews is born? We saw his star and have come to prostrate ourselves before him. "
Knowing this, King Herod was taken anxiety, and all Jerusalem with him. It brings together all the chief priests and the scribes of Israel, asking them in what place was to be born the Messiah. And now the star they had seen at its rising preceded them, she came to rest over the whereabouts of the child. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and falling to their knees, they worshiped him. They opened their treasures and offered him gifts: gold, frankincense and myrrh.
But then, warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they returned to their country another way.
